Helm privacy

What the app collects

• Nothing on a server. Helm has no accounts, no backend, and no analytics. It talks to one thing: the TV sitting on your own Wi-Fi network.
• Details of the TVs you pair stay on your device — the TV's name, its address on your local network, the client certificate Helm generates for it, and a MAC address if you enter one yourself for Wake-on-LAN. The private key behind that certificate is held in the device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and never leaves the phone.
• Local Network permission is used only to find Android TV and Google TV devices advertising themselves on your Wi-Fi, and to open the encrypted connection that carries your button presses. Helm does not scan for anything else, does not read your network's traffic, and does not log or transmit anything about your network.
• Text you type in keyboard mode goes straight to the TV over that encrypted local connection. It is not stored, logged, or copied anywhere.
• Helm never learns what you watch. It sends key presses; it does not receive or record your viewing history.
• Removing a TV in Helm erases its certificate and key immediately. Deleting the app removes everything at once. There is no copy anywhere else to ask for.

Third-party services

The app does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. Standard Apple and Google operating-system services apply (crash reports, OS-level telemetry) under their own privacy practices.

Children's privacy

Helm is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please email [email protected] and the data will be deleted promptly.

What this app does not do

• No advertising or ad networks.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of your data.
• No retargeting pixels or third-party tracking SDKs beyond what is listed above.
